School Cancellations/Delayed Openings/Emergency Closings

Cancellation of School

Cancellation of school takes place only during extraordinary circumstances such as extreme weather conditions. The school board and administrators are aware of the hardship which can be caused by a cancellation. Therefore, school will not be canceled unless a significant safety risk has been created by unusual circumstances.

Every practical means is used to notify parents of an impending cancellation, including radio (WOR, WCBS, WINS)and local fire department sirens (blasts at 6:45 AM and 7:15 AM). For closing information, check the district website at www.elmwoodparkschools.org.
